alworths is a rapidly expanding variety store chain with a strong service and value culture that provides a convenient solution to families' everyday needs and wants. We've already shown that we're capable of opening a store-a-week and generating big local and national interest in our new formula. We are keen to hear from landlords who have properties available that meet our selection criteria, namely:
- 20+ stores required during 2010
- Prime / Good Secondary High Street and Shopping Mall locations throughout the UK
- we are particularly interested in market town and suburban sites
- Ground Floor salesfloor space of 3,000 to 8,000 square feet
- Ancillary storage of 1,000 to 3,000 square feet
Our store environment is uncomplicated, uncluttered and family-friendly. We're determined that our stores will be easy-to-shop and will be consistently neat, tidy and clean. The store product range is clearly differentiated from the pound shops, offering the same good value but on a wider range of better quality merchandise. We are particularly proud of our people who are part of the local community and know many customers by name. In our stores-to-date it is the local workforce - most of whom have learnt their craft in the High Street through long careers - who help to deliver our vision of "High end service from a trusted Retailer".
alworths is backed by private funding and intends continued expansion in 2011 towards a chain of 200 stores with a combined turnover of over £300m. Landlords will find a chain with strong corporate identity, an attractive store design and layout and a focused marketing and promotional strategy. The chain has laid strong foundations for success with advanced IT systems and EPOS and a sound management structure from people with extensive experience of value retailing in the High Street.
